Winery Tours from Barcelona — Wine Tasting Experiences in Catalonia
Barcelona Secrets specializes in private wine tours in Barcelona — just you and your group, an expert local wine guide, and a comfortable private vehicle with hotel pickup and drop-off. We work with a mix of small family wineries, where you’ll often meet the winemaker, and a handful of renowned producers. Every itinerary is built around what you enjoy most — whether that’s sparkling Cava, bold Priorat reds or intimate cellar visits.
Many wine tours follow a rigid schedule: the same wineries, the same pours, the same large groups. Ours don’t. You’ll have time to ask questions, talk to the winemaker and enjoy the visit at your own pace. If you fall in love with a particular estate, we’ll happily stay a little longer.

🥂 Wine & Cava Tour to Penedès
“Pavel was very knowledgeable about Cava and brought us to great smaller wineries. A wonderful day in Penedès.” — Emilia, UK
Penedès is the closest major wine region to Barcelona — the birthplace of sparkling Cava and home to the prestigious Corpinnat producers. It’s the perfect destination for travelers who want to discover why Catalonia became Spain’s sparkling wine capital. Choose between a half-day tour (2 wineries, 5 hours) or the full experience with a traditional Catalan lunch (7 hours). Both include a short vineyard walk plus a detailed cellar tour.

“The wineries were all small, unique and wonderful. Our favorite was Celler Cal Pla where we were treated like old friends.” — Amanda L., USA
Priorat is world famous for powerful, mineral-driven red wines from old vines of Garnatxa and Carinyena rooted in unique llicorella slate soil. It’s a full 10 hour day, but for red wine lovers it’s unmatched. The tour visits 2–3 boutique family wineries. Depending on availability, your tour may include renowned wineries such as Clos Mogador, Mas Martinet or Perinet.

“We had a wonderful day trip with Pavel to Montserrat and Sabaté i Coca family vineyard and winery… Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.” — Judith S., New Hampshire
A full-day combination for travelers who want more than just wine: a morning winery visit and tasting in Penedès, a relaxed lunch stop with genuine Catalan flavors, and an afternoon at Montserrat — the dramatic mountain monastery and spiritual heart of Catalonia. Visiting Montserrat in the afternoon means arriving after the morning coach crowds have left.

We choose every winery for three things: exceptional wines, the character of the estate, and a memorable visitor experience. We only work with small and medium-sized producers, mostly family-run, where the focus is on craft rather than volume, and where you get a personal touch you simply won’t find at the bigger, commercial cellars. We’re genuinely passionate about Catalan wine ourselves, and every winery on this list is one we’d happily visit ourselves, wine tourists or not.
Why Catalonia Is One of Spain’s Best Wine Regions
Catalonia has one of the richest wine landscapes in Spain, shaped by a warm Mediterranean climate and soils that shift dramatically from coast to mountains. Winemaking here goes back centuries — in Priorat, old vines grow in llicorella, a unique black slate that gives the region’s reds their mineral intensity. In Penedès, Corpinnat producers are redefining what sparkling Cava can be, using traditional methods and single-estate fruit rather than mass production. Add DO and DOQ classifications protecting quality and origin at every step, and you get a wine region that belongs among Europe’s finest — most visitors just never get to see it up close. That’s exactly what our private wine tours are designed to change.

Barcelona Wine Tours FAQ
What are the best private wine tours from Barcelona (Penedès, Priorat, or Montserrat & Wine)?
The “best” tour depends on what you are looking for: choose Penedès if you are short on time and love world-class sparkling Cava and crisp whites; choose Priorat if wine is the main focus of your trip and you want bold, powerful red wines on a full-day journey; or choose Montserrat & Wine if you want to combine Catalonia’s iconic mountain with a relaxing wine tasting at a boutique winery. All options are fully private and customized to your group.
Are all your wine tours private?
Yes — every single tour is exclusively private. It’s just your group, your dedicated driver-guide, and a comfortable private vehicle. You will never be mixed with strangers.
Note on wineries: While your transport and guiding are private, the winery tour itself might occasionally join a small group of other visitors, depending on the estate’s policy, but we always prioritize boutique wineries that avoid overcrowded mass-tourism.
Where do the tours start and end? Do you pick us up at our hotel?
Yes! All our private tours include complimentary hotel or apartment pick-up and drop-off anywhere within Barcelona city limits. If you are staying outside the city center, in a private villa, or arriving at the cruise port, just let us know, and we can arrange custom logistics.
Are prices per person or per group?
Prices for our tours are per group (covering your private vehicle, fuel, tolls, and expert guide), not per person. This makes our private tours very cost-effective for families and groups of friends. Please note: Wine tastings and lunch are generally not included in the base tour price because options vary widely (from casual pairings to multi-course gourmet winery lunches). Exact costs for tastings and lunch options are clearly detailed on each specific tour page.
How many wineries do we visit, and what is included in your Barcelona wine tours?
On a standard day tour, we typically visit 2 or 3 carefully selected boutique wineries to ensure an intimate, unhurried experience. A typical tasting includes guided tours of the vineyards and cellars, followed by a flight of 4 to 6 premium wines paired with local Catalan snacks or a full gastronomic lunch, depending on the tour package you choose.
Can the tours be customized?
Absolutely. Because all tours are 100% private, we can tailor the pace, swap a winery for another, adjust lunch timings, or add special requests (such as celebrating a birthday or anniversary). Just tell us what you have in mind!
Do I need to book in advance? What is your cancellation policy?
We strongly recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak season (April through October), as availability with top-tier boutique wineries is strictly limited. For smaller groups (1 to 6 people), no advance payment is required to secure your booking, and cancellation is possible at any moment free of charge. For larger groups, please contact us for full details.
